Shoe Box Habitats Project-The students will design a shoe box diorama of an animal in their specific habitat.
Directions:
- Find a shoe box or any other small box/container to use for your habitat.
- Choose the habitat you would like to create, then think of an animal that lives in that habitat that you would like to research.
- After choosing an animal, research the animal and its habitat. You should record all of your findings on the animal research paper. If you are unable to print the research paper, using your own is perfectly fine! Just copy the information from the research paper to your own piece.

- Begin creating the shoe box habitat for your animal-if you have these items in your home, some ideas you may find useful are construction paper, paint, clay, natural materials (sticks, grass, rocks, etc.), drawings, magazine clippings, pictures from the internet, or any other household materials.
- After completion of your project, present your project by showing your shoebox and reading from your Research Project paper to your family.
*Reminders: This project is for fun and learning, so please do not feel that you have to
spend a lot of money to have a great project. Get creative with the things you already have at home or could even find outside. Have fun and do your best!
*We encourage you to take pictures of your child’s project and research paper and send it through Class Dojo or email! :)
