Mrs. Tregubov

title 1

My name is Vickie Tregubov and I am a Title I Reading Specialist.  I will be working in small groups with students in K-5 in the Title I Reading Room. I am also excited to be "pushing into" a few classrooms, which means I will be a part of the rotation during small group reading. This allows me to collaborate and plan more closely with the classroom teachers.

I enjoy teaching your children strategies necessary to be successful readers! Here are a few strategies you can encourage your child to use at home when they come across an unfamiliar word:

* look for little words they know in big words
look for key words or picture clues
say the beginning sound and read the rest of the sentence
ask "does it sound right?"
ask "does it make sense?"
look and listen for letter patterns
backtrack and read it again
skip it and go on

We also want our children to read fluently, or smoothly.  Ways to help them read fluently includes rereading familiar text. It's okay to read a familiar book more than once.  This also helps boost confidence as a reader!

If you would like assistance with finding appropriate leveled books and/or materials to help your child practice reading at home, please let me know.

I've also included a Useful Links, where you will be able to explore a variety of websites that you can enjoy with your child.

If you have any questions about your child's progress, please do not hesitate to contact me at school or email me at [email protected].
